NLM Removerby 1LightYear Labs
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 14, 2026
🔒 Your privacy in plain English:NLM Remover never uploads your files. Every slide deck, PDF and video is cleaned entirely on your own device, and we operate no servers that could receive them. The App does not collect any personally identifiable information. It uses Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage insights, Firebase Remote Config for update notices, Google AdMob to show advertisements, and RevenueCat with the Apple App Store or Google Play Billing to manage purchases.
1. About This Policy
- This Privacy Policy describes how 1LightYear Labs ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the NLM Remover mobile application ("App") on Android and iOS.
- 1LightYear Labs is a trading name of Chaitanya Sharad Mogal, a sole proprietor based in Nashik, India, who is the data controller for the purposes of this policy.
- By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
- We do not collect any personally identifiable information. The App does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or the contents, names or locations of the files you process.
- Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics (by Google LLC) to collect anonymous app-interaction data: which screens you view (including paywall views), which type of file was processed (slides, PDF or video), whether processing succeeded, failed or was cancelled and how long it took, how a cleaned file was exported (share, Downloads or Photos), whether an ad was shown, the result of a purchase or restore attempt, and your App version. Firebase assigns an anonymous analytics identifier to your device. This data is not linked to your name, email, or any other identifying information, and it never includes a file's name, contents or location.
- Configuration: We use Firebase Remote Config (by Google LLC) to tell the App whether a newer version is required or available. This sends only the standard request metadata Google requires to deliver a configuration file.
- Advertising: We use Google AdMob (by Google LLC) to display advertisements in the free version of the App. Google may collect and use certain data to serve and measure ads, including advertising identifiers, IP address, coarse location derived from IP, and ad-interaction data. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). Learn more about how Google uses data for ads at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- Purchases: If you buy a Pro subscription or a lifetime unlock, your purchase and subscription data (purchase receipts, product identifiers and subscription status) is sent to RevenueCat, Inc., which we use to manage your entitlements. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app user ID. We never receive or store your name, email address, or payment card details. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play on Android and by Apple on iOS.
- Advertising ID: On Android the App declares the com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID permission so that Google AdMob can request ads. You can reset or delete this identifier at any time in Settings > Google > Ads (or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on your device).
- Apple's App Tracking Transparency (iOS): On iOS the App asks, through Apple's system prompt, whether you allow tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you allow it, Google AdMob may use Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) to serve and measure ads. If you decline, the App keeps working exactly the same - you will still see ads, they will simply be less relevant. You can change your answer at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Paying subscribers ("Pro") are shown no advertisements at all, so none of the advertising data flows above apply to them while their entitlement is active.
3. Consent for Advertising (EEA, UK, Switzerland and Other Regulated Regions)
- Where the GDPR, US state privacy laws or equivalent laws apply, the App presents a Google-certified consent message (Google's User Messaging Platform) before any ad is requested, and it records your choices in the industry-standard IAB Transparency and Consent Framework format.
- If you consent, ads may be personalised. If you do not, the App requests non-personalised or limited ads instead. Either way, the App's watermark-removal features remain fully usable.
- You can change your mind at any time: open Settings > Ad privacy choices inside the App. That row is shown wherever a consent choice is required.
- Outside those regions no consent signal is required by law, and ads may be personalised subject to your device settings (and, on iOS, your App Tracking Transparency answer).
4. How the App Works
- The App removes the NotebookLM logo from slide decks (PPTX), PDF slide decks and videos (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI, up to 100 MB) that you choose yourself, using your device's file picker or photo library.
- All processing - reading the file, reconstructing the logo area from the surrounding pixels, removing the optional ending screen, and writing the cleaned file - happens entirely on your device. Processing works even without an internet connection.
- We operate no servers of our own. No file you select, no cleaned file, and no file name is ever sent to us or to any third party, and we have no ability to see any of them.
- The only outbound connections the App makes are to the Google (Firebase and AdMob), RevenueCat, Apple and Google Play services named in this policy - for analytics, update notices, ads and purchases.
5. Where Your Files and History Live
- Cleaned files and their preview images are stored in the App's private storage on your device so they appear in the History tab. Your history - file names, file types, sizes and dates - is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded.
- A cleaned file leaves the App's private storage only when you choose to export it: by sharing it through your device's share sheet, by saving it to your Downloads folder (Android), or by saving a video to your Photos library.
- Your App settings (for example, video export preferences) are also stored locally on your device.
- Deleting a file inside the App, using "Clear history" in Settings, or uninstalling the App removes this data from your device. Because we never receive it, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
6. App Permissions
- The App may request the following on your device, and uses each only for the stated purpose:
- Internet access - required to serve ads, validate purchases, send anonymous analytics and check for required updates. It is not used to process your files.
- Photos (iOS) - used only to let you pick a video from your library and, when you tap Save to Photos, to add a cleaned video to your library. On Android the App uses the system file and photo pickers, which give it access only to the specific file you select; it does not request broad photo, video or storage permissions.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13 and newer) - used solely to show a "Saved to Downloads" notification that opens the file after you save it. Declining it does not affect any other feature. The App sends no marketing or push notifications of any kind.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS) - described in Section 2.
- Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID, Android) - used only by the advertising service described in Section 2.
- The App does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
7. Data Sharing
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone. We do not share your data with anyone for cross-context behavioural advertising of our own.
- Anonymous app-interaction and configuration data is shared with Google LLC through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Remote Config, solely to understand how the App is used, fix problems and deliver update notices.
- Ad-related data may be shared with Google LLC (Google AdMob) for the purpose of serving and measuring advertisements. We do not control what Google collects for advertising; that is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Purchase and subscription data is shared with RevenueCat, Inc., which acts as our service provider, solely to validate and manage your entitlements. It is not used for advertising or marketing.
- Payment data is handled entirely by Google LLC (Google Play Billing) or Apple Inc. (App Store), never by us.
- We may disclose information if required to do so by law. In practice we hold no personal data that could be disclosed.
8. Third-Party Services
- Your use of the following is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of them.
- Firebase Analytics & Remote Config (Google LLC) - anonymous usage data, update notices. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdMob (Google LLC) - advertising. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat, Inc. - subscription and entitlement management. See: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- Google Play (Google LLC) - payment processing on Android. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple Inc. (App Store) - payment processing on iOS. See: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- NLM Remover is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google. NotebookLM is a trademark of Google LLC. The App never connects to NotebookLM or to your Google account.
9. International Transfers
- The third-party services listed above are operated by companies based in the United States and may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, those companies rely on their own approved transfer mechanisms (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
- Because we neither collect nor store personal data ourselves, we carry out no international transfers of our own.
10. Data Retention
- We retain no personal data, because we collect none.
- Anonymous analytics data is retained by Google according to the Firebase retention period configured for our project and Google's own policies.
- Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat, Google and Apple for as long as they need them to provide and account for your purchase.
- Your cleaned files and history remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
11. Your Rights
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
- Because we do not collect or store personal data, we hold nothing to provide, correct or delete. For the anonymous advertising and analytics data held by the companies in Section 8, please use the controls they provide, the in-App Settings > Ad privacy choices row, or your device's advertising settings.
- We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
- If you have any concern, write to us at [email protected] or [email protected] and we will help.
12. Children's Privacy
- The App is not directed to children. It is intended for users aged 13 and over, or 16 and over in any country whose law sets that as the minimum age for consent to data processing (as several EU member states do).
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App is not listed in any store's children's or families programme, and we do not knowingly serve ads to children.
- If you believe a child has used the App and provided personal information, contact us at [email protected] or [email protected] and we will act promptly.
13. Data Security
- Because we do not collect or transmit personal data to any server of ours, there is no user data on our side to secure.
- Your files never leave your device unless you choose to export them. All network requests the App makes for ads, analytics, configuration and purchases use HTTPS.
- Cleaned files are saved only to your device's local storage and remain under your control.
14. Changes to This Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the 'Last Updated' date at the top of this page.
- We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
